Two-step verification adds a second check to your sign-in, on top of your password. Once it is turned on, you will need to confirm a code or answer a question every time you sign in to your ShowRave account, in addition to your password. This makes it much harder for someone else to get into your account, even if they find out your password.
Turn on two-step verification- Log in and go toSettingsin your account menu.
- Find theTwo-step verificationsection and clickManage two-step verification.
- Enter yourcurrent passwordto continue. You will be asked for your password again whenever you set up, change, or turn off two-step verification, so keep it to hand throughout this process.
You can protect your account with one of the following methods:
- Authenticator app- get a one-time code from an app on your phone, such as Google Authenticator.
- Email code- get a one-time code sent to your account email.
- Security questions- answer a question only you know the answer to.
You can only have one method active at a time. Setting up a new method replaces the one you are currently using.
Setting up an authenticator app- On theTwo-step verificationpage, enter your current password and clickSet up authenticator app.
- A QR code appears on the screen. Open your authenticator app and use it to scan the QR code, which adds your ShowRave account to the app.
- Enter your current password again, then type the code currently shown in your authenticator app into theVerification codefield.
- ClickVerify and continueto finish setup.
- On theTwo-step verificationpage, enter your current password and clickSend setup code. A code is sent to your account email address.
- Open the email and note the code.
- Enter your current password again, type the code into theVerification codefield, and clickConfirm email code.
Once this method is active, a fresh code is sent to your email each time you sign in, and you will need to enter it to complete sign-in.
Setting up security questions- On theTwo-step verificationpage, enter your current password.
- Answer the security questions shown on the screen. Choose answers that are easy for you to remember but unlikely to be guessed by anyone else.
- ClickSave security questionsto finish setup.
When you sign in, you will be asked one of these questions and need to give the matching answer.
Save your recovery codesAs soon as two-step verification is turned on, a set ofrecovery codesis shown on the screen. Each code can be used once to sign in if you cannot use your normal verification method, for example if you lose your phone or cannot access your email.
- Write the codes down or store them somewhere safe straight away. They are shown only once and cannot be displayed again.
- Each code works only one time. Once a code is used, it cannot be used again.
- If you use a recovery code to sign in, you will receive an email letting you know, so you can check that it was really you.
- Enter your email or username and password as usual and continue.
- You will be asked for a second step, depending on the method you set up: a code from your authenticator app, a code sent to your email, or the answer to one of your security questions.
- Enter the requested information and continue. You will then be signed in as normal.
If you cannot complete this step with your usual method, enter one of your recovery codes instead in theRecovery codefield on the same screen.
Turning off two-step verification- Go toSettings, thenManage two-step verification.
- Scroll to theDisable two-step verificationsection.
- Enter your current password and clickDisable two-step verification.
Once it is turned off, signing in only requires your password again, until you choose to set it up again.
What happens if you reset your passwordIf you reset your password through the forgotten password process, two-step verification is automatically turned off on your account as a precaution, and you will receive an email confirming this. If you would like to use it again, set it up again from theTwo-step verificationpage using the steps above.
